Link help

Opened a TrackTail link?

A TrackTail link should tell you exactly what it lets you do. In this preview, public links are limited to public pages, report references, and save-for-later guidance. They do not reveal private records or prove ownership by themselves.

Paste a link or reference

Paste a public TrackTail reference or public pet link. This checks the text in your browser only; it does not verify identity, create a session, reveal private records, send email, or change a report.

Public references start with public-. Public pet links open public records only. Private, admin, volunteer, or token-like links should not be forwarded.

public-safe only

Treat every copied link as untrusted until the page resolves it. The resolver should route safe public references without revealing contact, hidden evidence, account tokens, or internal task details.

Four-step check

1. Identify what you have

A public report reference starts with public-. A safe public pet page stays under /public/pets/.

2. Paste only public-safe text

Use the resolver for a copied public link or reference. Do not paste private email links, contact details, or hidden evidence.

3. Choose the review path

Status lookup, public pet browsing, save-for-later, safety, or privacy paths each keep authority limited.

4. Do not forward private access

A shared link should not prove identity, ownership, custody, volunteer authority, or private-record access.

Other link paths

It starts with public-

Use Report status when you have a public report reference from a report, update, possible-match suggestion, or problem report.

Boundary: Shows limited review status only; it does not unlock private report records, reveal contact, or prove authority.

Check a report

It points to a pet page

Open Lost & Found when the link is about a public-safe animal record, sighting, possible match, or record problem.

Boundary: Public pet pages do not show private contact, exact unsafe locations, raw evidence, or internal task state.

Browse public pets

It asks me to sign in or save for later

Use the current account-continuation preview to check the safe return action without launching email links.

Boundary: No email is sent, no session is created, no contact is verified, and no ownership or custody is proved.

Check save-for-later

It looks suspicious or shows private details

Use the safety or privacy paths if a link appears to expose contact details, exact addresses, unsafe images, spam, or abuse.

Boundary: Creates review guidance only; it does not remove content, investigate private disputes, or contact anyone automatically.

Safe link rules

Forwarded links stay limited

A copied public reference or public page link should not prove ownership, custody, identity, volunteer authority, or private access.

Future private links need scope

When email links launch, they should explain their purpose, expiry, allowed action, and what they cannot do.

Emergency help is separate

If an animal or person is in immediate danger, use local emergency, vet, shelter, rescue, warden, or animal-welfare help first.
